We need you to become a Girl Scout volunteer!

Where would Girl Scouting be without its 880,000 adult members?  99 percent of whom are volunteers? They are responsible for the Girl Scout movement.

As a Girl Scout volunteer, you can wear many hats. The range of volunteer opportunities means you can contribute your own unique talents and the amount of time that's right for you.

Here's a sampling of the roles volunteers have:

Board members use their skills to define goals, plan, and manage change.

Local area managers design activities and structures to guide the work of the council, coordinate training and fund raising, and serve as liaisons with community organizations.

Service project specialists find projects girls can do to help their community.

Mentors orient new Girl Scout leaders and guide girls in exploring interests and careers. Whether in technology or the arts, sports or medicine, business or government, Girl Scouts needs your help to provide opportunities for girls to learn about different careers though hands-on experiences.

Program consultants share expertise on organizing activities for girls.

Public relations consultants act as liaisons with troops and local media to get publicity for service units.

Recruiters organize and direct events to educate and recruit potential members.

Registrars provide administrative assistance and supervision in registering participants for events.

Speakers provide presentations to community groups about the Girl Scout organization or give talks to help girls learn about a particular topic of interest.

Trainers conduct Girl Scout-related workshops and seminars for volunteers.

Translators assist with outreach to non-English-speaking communities.

Troop/group leaders work directly with girls throughout the year, leading meetings and conducting activities.

Troop secretaries assist with ongoing record keeping and other paperwork.
